(real name Sanele Ndlela) is a South African hip-hop
artist.
Born in the city of Pietermaritzburg.
Over time he has developed
a distinct sound that fuses
hip hop and Kwaito. His music is inspired by what he has
gone through in his life and
what goes on around him,
his experiences have led him
to write music as a means to
express himself. He draws his
inspiration from artists such
as 50 Cent, Eminem, Pro Kid,
KO to name a few. His music
is about inspiring the people
who listen to it to follow their
dreams as he chases his as
well.
His journey in music started in
2008 when he decided to pickup a pen and write his
own songs. In the year
2009 he started a group
called Triple S with two
of his close friends, they
released their first mixtape in 2010 before the
group decided to part
ways and focus on their
career paths, this was
when Smooth started
his solo music journey
which led him to release
his first solo mixtape in
2011 titled The Beast.
After working on growing his music in the following years, he would
eventually release his
second project titled Up
Rise in the year 2014.
In 2016 he worked on an
EP called The Next Step
which helped him garner attention within his
hometown Pietermaritzburg, eventually getting
radio interviews at uM-
gungundlovu FM & KZN
Capital FM as well as
airplay for his music. His
music has helped him
reach places he wouldn’t
have imagined visiting
in KwaZulu Natal having
performed at numerous
places all over the KwaZulNProvince.
Currently working on
his second EP, the help
and support he’s been
receiving over time shall
be his driving force for
the projects.
